4.5 GPA is promising but by no means the sole indicator of admission...

Oregon and Tennessee are his leaders. Never heard of him until this past weekend.

Sounds like family tradition played a big part.

Here's hoping he beats us just about as many times as Zumwalt did.

Yeah, fork him.

Seems Davis Mills impressed today:

Quote:Stanford quarterback commit Davis Mills had the best Elite 11 performance I’ve seen thus far and is certainly in the discussion as the top quarterback recruit in the country. The 6-foot-3, 192-pound Mills is smooth, a fluid passer, throws a pretty and catchable ball, changes speed well on his throws and has the arm talent needed to go down field. An effortless release. Mills is a U.S. Army All-American. He earned his ticket to the Elite 11 Finals held the first week of June in Los Angeles. 247Sports ranks Mills as the nation’s No. 4 pro-style passer, a grade that will certainly go up in the near future.

Re: Class of 2017 - OutsiderFan - 04-25-2016

The "Pro Style" and "Dual Threat" labels placed on QBs seem to be a little outdated.

We've seen the video of Davis Mills, and frankly, seen Chryst and Burns.  All those guys are capable of being "dual threats" if that means they are capable of producing with their arms and legs.  I don't think KJ Costello is as good a runner as any of those three, but he's certainly capable of running for positive yards.  Andrew Luck wasn't considered a dual threat, but he isn't a statue.  Hell, without Kevin Hogan's legs agains WSU, Stanford doesn't play in the Pac-12 championship, let alone win the Rose Bowl.  Pretty sure the Cougs saw Hogan as a dual threat after that game.  And frankly the reason I wanted Mills more than others was because of how well he runs with the ball, not just with straight line speed, but suddenness and quickness.

Most people would look at Vernon Adams and see a Dual Threat, but the reality is he didn't run the ball much in 2015.  In fact, Pro Style Hogan had two more rushing attempts and ran for nearly 300 yards more than Adams in 2015.

Let's see, Glyn Milburn, Troy Walters, Christian McCaffrey...

Yes, the coaches are really buttering Darnay up.

Again?  :P

Seriously, he committed in December.

My bad, OF.  The article popped up on my Google news and was just a few hours old.  I assumed the commitment was recent as well.  Thanks for the heads up.
