Since a parsec is a unit of distance rather than time, we don't have any knowledge about Chryst's speed.

My understanding of warp drives is that they bend space-time so units of time or space are interchangeable for faster than light speed equivalents.

Re: Class of 2014 - rudruff - 07-03-2013

So how are we going to compare 40s as a measure of distance instead of time?

(my 40 is commonly a measure of liquid mass, but that is a whole other conversation.)

I have no idea how you project from what happens at camp to "real" football. That's a pretty intense environment to be ranked real time by the coaches running the camp.

The ranking of Grier at 5 based off of yesterday's performance is mind boggling. He plays on the same team as Chryst and was clearly terrible by comparison: three passes almost intercepted because they were thrown into traffic and no points scored. Chryst had no points as well but had no potential turnovers and his receivers dropped four passes. Perhaps the coaches saw multiple passing opportunities that were overlooked but beyond that I was very pleased with his performance.

Today's performance will be broadcast at 6:30 PST on ESPNU if you care to see it first hand. Name of the team is Alpha Pro (orange shirts) and Chryst is set to play in the 2nd half I believe. This team also has Simmons and Alfieri on the defense.

Edit: Chryst did not play in either game - coach's choice. Simmons had an interception to seal the win for Alpha Pro in the first game today.

Hill Farmstead, Lawson's, and The Alchemist all make excellent versions of that style. Hill Farmstead also makes a number of good Saisons, if you're into that sort of thing.

Hoped to detour through Waterbury on the way back to get some of this nearly impossible to find, supposedly greatest beer in the world (Alchemist's Heady Topper).  Sadly they sold out for the week the day before yesterday!  Vermonters I guess stocked up early to prevent us Bostonians from pillaging through the inventory on a holiday weekend.

I love Saisons!  My favorite being Brooklyn Brewery's Sorachi Ace.  I'm a sucker for anything East meets West.

Heady Topper is really good, but it's not like it's 10X better than anything else you can find. And I'm not surprised they were sold out, I've heard that it goes really fast, especially around holidays. But I think they do sometimes distribute to Boston, so if you really try you can probably find some without the trip to Vermont.

And I love New Zealand hops (though Sorachi is Japanese, I think). They have citrus flavors that are really something else. A local brewery is releasing a pair of IPAs tomorrow, one with American hops and the other with New Zealand hops, I'm hoping I'll be able to score kegs of both and be in a hop coma for the next few weeks.

Anyway, I'll stop talking about beer now.

Appears Harrison Phillips is announcing next week. https://twitter.com/horribleharry99/status/354632009773088770

Re: Class of 2014 - Bruce Wang - 07-09-2013

Not the other 2014 signal caller that's rumored to have a Stanford offer but one that has a name of interest to us: Coltin Gerhart. 3 stars. My guess is Duke-bound. Anybody know if Addison Luck plays football?

Re: Class of 2014 - stanfan - 07-09-2013

Hope I'm wrong, but I'm not overly optimistic about a guy who sends emails to "Husker Nation"

Re: Class of 2014 - needle - 07-10-2013

It's going to be kind of a strange senior year for Coltin:

Todd Gerhart is out as football coach at Norco High
Todd Gerhart, who coached Norco to Southern Section titles in 2005 and '06, is removed from the post in wake of complaint filed by an assistant coach.
June 28, 2013|By Andrew Gastelum

Quote:The school district would not comment about the reason for Gerhart's dismissal, but Tapia-Gonzalez said Gerhart's request to transfer to Auburndale Intermediate School in Corona as a teacher has been granted. She also said Larry Baker, Norco's defensive coordinator, would serve as interim coach.

"He requested a transfer so as not to be a distraction to the program as they move forward under Coach Baker," Humenik said in the statement.

it was announced yesterday that Coltin is transferring to powerhouse Vista Murrieta.

I am guessing the coaches want 3 OLBs in this class. Phillips, Dickerson and Veach

Phillips is being recruited as a lineman.

That is interesting he's listed to be the same size as Dickerson

Re: Class of 2014 - StannyBoy - 07-10-2013

Most of the measurements aren't accurate. Phillips looks much thicker than Dickerson and since Dickerson doubles as a TE he's probably very athletic so that makes him a good fit for 3-4 OLB.

Re: Class of 2014 - socalstanfan1 - 07-11-2013

Just my impression, but given Phillips' evident blue-collar work ethic and intensity, maybe the next Ben Gardner type of DL

Is Dickerson being recruited as a TE or a DE/OLB?  Or both?  Would be cool to have another two-way player.  One of my all time favorite highlights has to be Marecic scoring on ND on consecutive plays.

I recall reading in an article a while back that we're recruiting him for OLB, but that they might look at him at TE.

They look equally thick to me.

It seems Rosen has bought into the 40 year decision and then some.
