Some of my other favorites were the Italian Job, Ronin, and the Blues Brothers.

My favorite car chase of all time is in The Seven Ups - Bill Hickman (from Bullitt) drove one of the cars, and was the stunt coordinator. The French Connection also has a unique and creative chase scene (car/subway train).

Didn’t the Seven Ups have the chase where a car goes under a truck and the top comes off? Ronin had two chases, the one in Nice and one in Paris through the same tunnel that Princess Di was killed in.

Mick... my father shot the movie about the movie, I think for Robins Nest the company who produced many behind the scenes shorts in the 60’s and 70’s. I worked on a few in the early 70’s.
When the article says “small cameras” there was no such thing as a “lipstick” video camera shooting at 23.976fps and easily concealed. So they probably used 35mm Bell and Howell MOS “Eyemos”, rugged and small compared to the larger sound cameras of the time. When we watched the picture it was easy for a San Franciscan to spot the abrupt changes in neighborhoods. But the incredible editing made it work. The faux gas station at the end of the chase was located at the eastern end of the Guadalupe Parkway in Brisbane.
The market where McQueen buys a newspaper at the beginning of the film is still there on Nob Hill.

Ronin had three chase scenes, but the one in Paris was the best one. 7 minutes long, and no CGI.

and then there are the multiple times they pass the green VW and white Firebird....and how did the Charger lose eight hubcaps during the chase???
Lots of little inconsistencies. The Charger runs off the road behind the gas station, then the gas station explodes on cue. Hitman enters the hospital during the dead of night, Bullitt chases him for 10-20 minutes in the hospital, then the hitman emerges in the bright morning sunshine. The Winchester shotgun blast on the Mustang's windshield wasn't remotely consistent with what a close-up shotgun blast would look like. There's tons of continuity mistakes like that.

and both occupants of the Charger would probably have had some hearing impairment after the shotgun blast inside the car...impressive that the sound did not seem to startle the driver...

Some famous mistakes not fixed before CGI:
In a battle scene from Cleopatra on a distant ridge is either a catering truck or a grip truck.
In another Biblical picture (I think with Stewart Granger) there is a contrail visible in a wide shot.
In “Duel” there is a low angle car interior shot of Dennis Weaver driving and the head of a microphone in the edge of the frame obviously taped to the rear view mirror.
This was before Video Assist so I’m sure there were words watching dailies dealing with “Ah, nobody will notice.”

I don't recall the name of the late 1970s horror movie, but the loudest scream in the theater happened when a grip (I think) was caught on film behind one of the false walls. Good versimilitude, he was scanning intently.

I remember a fight scene in "Little House" between Michael Landon and another actor. Close up the actor's hat is off and wide shot the hat is on. There were about five cuts in the scene. Unbelievable. My mom was a "script girl" and took incredible notes. The what-is-now-called Continuity Person should have been fired.

My favorite is Edward G. Robinson’s tie bobbing up and down in Key Largo. The editing left a bit to be desired but it was a fun diversion….

Not just Little League, but they were on the same pitching staff at Highland Park HS, and Kershaw was Stafford's center in football there too.

Also two baseball all-stars played on the same little league team. One of the All Stars matured late, making the MLB all star team in 2019 and 2021. The other matured early, making the All Star team in 2012, 2013 and from 2015-2018...but not from 2019 to 2021, though he was an MVP one of those years. Who are the two all stars?
