Re: Class of 2015 - Bruce Wang - 01-25-2014

Lane Kiffin, the gift that keeps on giving.

EDIT: Spoke to soon.  Seems that people think he's headed to $outhernCal.

The last time Ricky Town spurned us I was a bit disappointed because we wouldn't have the Ricky Bobby (Town-Okereke) name combination on our team.  But I just realized we already have Ricky Bobby (Seale-Okereke) on the team now.  Shake and Bake!

But of course, then my OCD kicked in and I had to look at our roster, and realized that we could field a pretty good all-time NBA team with name combinations.

PG: Isaiah Thomas (Brandt-Sims and Oser)
SG: Michael Jordan (Rector and Richards/Watkins/Williamson)
SF: Rick(y) Barry (Seale and Sanders) or Anthony Davis (Wilkerson and Noor)
PF: Kevin Garnett (Hogan and Joshua)
C: David Robinson (Yankey and Alex Robinson, little-used punter)

But the best name combination is essentially good advice for fathers like me with young daughters: Holder, Danser, and Tucker.

Supposedly SC was his favorite team growing up but he didnt like Kiffin, now that Kiffin is gone, he might end up at SC

Re: Class of 2015 - StannyBoy - 01-25-2014

He didn't waste any time. Town to USC is official.

Re: Class of 2015 - DC - 01-26-2014

Too bad.  Obviously would have been better for us if he stayed with Alabama.

Re: Class of 2015 - CJ90 - 01-26-2014

This is a very bad development.  The guy has serious arm talent.  More than Barkley and on a completely different level from Browne, who may never get meaningful PT for Troy.

Re: Class of 2015 - AthleticsDynasty - 01-26-2014

Browne at the same stage was a better prospect than Town IMO

Re: Class of 2015 - socalstanfan1 - 01-26-2014

I'll be honest, I haven't seen either Town or Browne play, and probably wouldn't know enough about quality QB play to offer an educated opinion on who is the better QB going into their junior year. Athletic Dynasy, if you can really compare Browne as a junior with Browne as a junior, you are a more obsessive fan than I.

What I DO know, is that Lane Kiffin's track record with developing QBs, when he is in the head coaching position, seems dubious, whereas Sarkisian seems to have a much better feel for coaching the position. And that makes me nervous.

Re: Class of 2015 - Bruce Wang - 01-26-2014

$outhernCal is so greedy.  They already identified and offered a quarterback 4 years ago for this class.  And he (David Sills) committed.  :P

Found on /r/cfb today:

Out of morbid curiosity, I read this article about the virtual high school David Sills "attends".  Basically it's a football team organized by his father and they take online classes together.

Re: Class of 2015 - StannyBoy - 01-26-2014

Zero chance Sills ends up at SC.

Re: Class of 2015 - Bruce Wang - 01-26-2014

Of course, he's not going to end up at $outhernCal.  This whole episode amuses me.  I wonder if Sills, or rather his father, pressed the issue, would $C take him?

That goes back to Hulk's eye test thread.

Re: Class of 2015 - CompSci87 - 01-28-2014

Will sparks fly if Venus Williams comes to campus to play in the Bank of the West Classic?

Re: Class of 2015 - washingtonismoney - 02-05-2014

Recruiting FAQ:

Q: "What does one do after landing the top TE in the nation?"
A: "Offer yet more TEs."

Garrett Williams from Florida and Hale Hentges of Missouri, come on down!

A Stanford offer must strike the most fear in the hearts of other programs.

A Stanford offer was a

for Malik Jefferson, a well-regarded linebacker from Texas.

Re: Class of 2015 - stupac2 - 02-05-2014

Do we send out a bunch of offers for class N+1 right after class N signs? Do most schools do this? Is there a reason for it?
