So Hjerpe won Pac-12 as predicted by the announcers but Mathews won Collegiate Baseball National pitcher of the week. I have no idea how big a deal this is but I can live with this. 8)

Sigh. Our offense is sorely lacking the long ball this season. We are in the bottom third of the league in home runs, extra base hits, and slugging percentage.

Yeah… the fact that this wasn’t Matthew’s first awesome week probably helped him with the national voters, but because he had already won PAC-12 pitcher of the week (twice), it may have hurt him with the pac-12 voters.  The award is supposed to be based solely on the reference week, but voters are likely influenced by other stuff.

Fireworks too.  Not actual pyrotechnics, but an ASU player and head coach ejected.  Martinez led of the bottom of the 2nd with an opposite field HR.  With 2 outs, Crampton singled and Jones walked.  Graham then hit a bomb.  Next hitter, Barerra, got beaned.  Pitcher was ejected immediately, followed by the coach after lots of jawing.  Next hitter, Montgomery (in the clean-up spot) greeted the new pitcher with the third HR of the inning.  The way Williams was pitching, that was effectively game over.

About damn time. Stanford hitters have seen way too many high and tight pitches this season. Ask Drew Bowser.
