Church attendance is not zero, but even those who attend are typically quiet about it.
As an Eagle Scout in high school I never mentioned it because it was ridiculed. During my Soph year I was selected for a special Eagle society and I mentioned my reluctance. Most of the others were shocked. Seems where they went to school Eagle rank was respected. I guess it's where you are and when, and how badly you want to fit in.

Palm tree. No not at all. There are many prep schools with 5th Srs playing. Clock starts when they start college.Â
So we already have 6 commits for a class of 17 or so. Going to be very interesting

http://www.si.com/signing-day/recruiting
There was indeed a late surge by the LA schools. Both UCLA and SC closed very well, grabbing lots of top uncommitted guys. The class rankings now look like this (overall ranking of all Pac-12 schools in each service's ranking):
Rivals: #8 SC, #11 UCLA,
#18 Stanford, #27 C.al, #28 Oregon, #34 ASU, #35 Utah, #38 Washington, #41 Oregon State, #51 Arizona, #52 Wazzu, #64 Colorado
Scout: #7 UCLA, #11 SC,
#15 Stanford, #24 Oregon, #29 Washington, #36 ASU, #39 C.al, #41 Utah, #44 Arizona, #50 Wazzu, #55 Oregon State, #67 Colorado
ESPN: #11 SC,
#13 Stanford, #15 UCLA, #25 ASU, #29 Washington, #32 Oregon, #38 Utah, #40 C.al, #45 Oregon State, #47 Arizona, #56 Wazzu, NR Colorado (not in Top 75, which is all ESPN shows)
247: #8 SC, #12 UCLA,
#16 Stanford, #27 Oregon, #28 ASU, #29 Washington, #36 Utah, #38 C.al, #43 Arizona, #46 Oregon State, #55 Wazzu, #69 Colorado.Â
So, we ended up with a basically Top 15 class (average of 15.5), but also generally 3rd in the conference. Averaging these four rankings gives us these composite Pac-12 class rankings:
1. SC (9.5)
2. UCLA (11.25)
3. Stanford (15.5)
4. Oregon (27.75)
5. Arizona State (30.75)
6. Washington (31.25)
7. C.al (36)
8. Utah (37.5)
9. Arizona (46.25)
10. Oregon State (46.75)
11. Wazzu (53.25)
12. Colorado (69) (assumes a 76 ranking from ESPN, since only the Top 75 were ranked)
Re: Class of 2016 -
ColoradoTree - 02-04-2016
In case anyone is interested, ND was slightly ahead of us in recruiting as well. In the Rivals/Scout/ESPN/247 quadrumvirate, they ranked 12th (6 spots ahead of us), 13th (2 spots ahead of us), 16th (3 spots behind us), and 15th (1 spot ahead of us), for a composite average of 14th.Â
Future non-conference opponent Kansas State didn't fare too well, ranking in the 70s in the various services. But they never really fare that well. They get 2- and 3-star kids who play really hard, the coaches develop them well, and they are usually a tough out.Â

I know the class doesn't have as much star appeal as some others, but I really like Stanford's class and think several players are underrated. Dorian Maddox a 2-star is a joke. Donald Stewart is a 4-star caliber guy to me. Pryts too. But most importantly, including highly regarded walk-on Gutwald, Stanford landed 10 OL/DL. That can't be underestimated.
I wanted to put together a matrix of how many other top programs offered Stanford commits, but don't have the time now.Â
Also, if Demetris signs with Stanford, what would Stanford's class ranking be then?

I don't think that would help us much in terms of current ranking systems. Michigan landed top recruit of this class Rashan Gary while their ranking not changed much across all ranking systems
(ESPN, rivals, Scout and 247). Plus when looked ranking systems which exposed their scoring (rivals, scout and 247), there are obvious gaps between top 11~13 team and the rest.
So my guess would be 12~14 at best. Which, in my opinion, not reflecting what Robertson could bring to the team. We desperately needed some speed demon both offensively (WR in particular)
and defensively (DBs) for the team need and it would be a of exceedingly large proportions difference if we could land Robertson (especially with a well balanced class in hand).

Fully agreed that this class is terrific. Covered pretty much all of the position groups (with C, FB, and ILB being the exceptions**), and it seems like we have some high 3-star guys that have the film and offer lists of 4-star guys. And while great OL recruiting has become the norm, great DL recruiting hasn't necessarily been. Getting Michael Williams/Bo Peek/Jovan Swann as interior guys and Schaffer (and maybe Harrington, if that's where he ends up) as DE types is just great. I think Schaffer in particular is going to significantly overperform his recruiting profile.Â
And I'm already salivating at the prospect of seeing Pryts enforce the middle of the field. The coaches raved about him as much as (or more than) any other guy, it seems, and from watching a little of his film, they may have undersold him. The guy has terrific instincts and hits like a Mack truck.
If Demetris pulls it off, I would imagine you'd see our class ranking tick up a little, but probably just a spot or two in the overall rankings. Lots of the schools ahead of us have their fair share of 4- and 5-star guys.Â
**It's worth noting that we addressed C last year (Chaffin), as well as ILB (Branch, as well as Barton returning from mission) and FB (Reagan Williams). And I know the staff (and most services) originally saw Jordan Fox as an OLB, but Scout (at least) had him as an ILB, so perhaps he could slide inside if necessary. FB is also seemingly in good shape for next year's class with Bailey McElwain seemingly now joining it, as well as Houston Heimuli returning from his mission. You could argue that either K or P is missing, too, but Jet Toner is listed as a K/P, and we have pretty ridiculous depth at the kicking positions right now, especially with Riccitelli (as more of a pure K) walking on. I'd thought Toner was more of a punter, but the coaches talked up his placekicking, so we'll see. Either way, good problems to have.Â
Re: Class of 2016 -
ColoradoTree - 02-04-2016
I have to say that I'm particularly impressed by the staff's perseverance in pursuing Plan B kids this year. The decommits/dings were painful, coming as late in the process as they did, but it's simply crazy that we replaced a 4-star safety (Ulloa) with another (Pryts), and a 4-star CB (Edmonds) with another (Eboh). Pryts isn't a classic Plan B kid since we offered him pretty early on, I believe, but stealing a 4-star CB from Texas that's a UT commit in January? And flipping a Boston College legacy kid from CT like Scooter Harrington who's a 4-star TE (on ESPN at least, and high 3 stars on the others) and might be an even better OLB with a January offer? That's delightfully absurd. (And if Ulloa had stuck, it's unclear that Pryts's offer would have been committable anyway, given the rest of the numbers in the class. I understand that we continued to pursue him for a while, but it seems like he re-emerged for us after the Penn State DC moved to Tennessee, so we may have .)Â
But including guys like Pryts, we ensured that there were enough quality players who did what they had to do to navigate admissions successfully, with no guarantee that there would be a spot for them in the class. The dropoff from our Plan A guys to our Plan B guys this year seemed remarkably less severe than in past years. (The possible exception, of course, is adding 2-star RB Maddox to offset the losses of 4-star RBs Brandon Stephens and Beau Bisharat, but you can't win them all.)
Recruiting at Stanford is really, really hard, and convincing guys already committed to great options to keep working harder than they have to just for the
chance of an offer from us might be the hardest part. And this staff just did as well as could possibly be expected at it.Â

Agree on the staff's efforts, and those of the late "flippers" - really a great "It ain't over till it's over" persistence on the part of both. I'll have to spring for coffee if I ever run into one of the coaches at Peet's ;)
Also, in re Bisharat, I am a little surprised that he wound up signing with Colorado, rather than Oregon, as most pundits had expected. I'm glad he landed on his feet elsewhere..AND that it wasn't with the Ducks. Either way, it'll be interesting watching him and Stephens the next few years. That said, I think Maddox is a solid pickup - I think he'll be a worthy successor to Remound in short yardage situations.
