I watched much of the UA/UO game, had the same issues streaming as others, so it was hard in the 4th quarter to follow it well. Just looked at the box score. Saw UA's stats, shooting was great, not too many turnovers, rebounding ok. The stats seemed to favor UA. In fact, the shot really well. the big difference was FTs. Oregon shot a lot more and made most of them. Some were end of game fouls but mostly not. What does that mean? I don't know. I was just trying to follow the game through the static, not worrying over the officiating. Maybe UA earned all their fouls. But that was where the game was won for Oregon, if you go by the stats.

In our Friday game against CU, there were 25 fouls called against CU and 14 against us, for a total of 39.
In each case, more fouls were called against the team that likes to play "physical," as might be expected, but the differential doesn't seem that lopsided.

That's really not a good look for Barnes. So she thinks her team is treated differently than other teams, or does she also think other teams get "homered" when they play at UA?

I am biased in that I think Maul Ball , as practiced by Arizona and Colorado , has to be called within the rules. “Just let them play” becomes an excuse for hack, push and shove . If Colorado and Arizona have good enough athletes to play the defense they play, then fine they should play it, but if what they have are committed players coached to go beyond the rules , they should be called for it.
If Coach Barnes really aspires to have a program like Tara’s she should consider emulating Tara’s approach “ we have to figure out how to play defense without fouling” vs “we were hometowned”. In Barnes defense, Missy Barlow was one of the refs so you know it was not called well.

NCAA championship game v. Arizona: Stanford, which played a fair amount of the game in the paint, shot TWO free throws. Was she complaining about foul differential after that game?
Fun fact: Stanford's winning point came from the second of those two free throws.

Although I wonder if she is more willing to complain after playing a Graves team than after a Vanderveer team. Whatever those "words" were she and Graves had may have put her in a sour mood. She was very respectful towards Tara.

In fairness, I will admit that I was definitely complaining about FT differential during the championship game!
But I'm just a fan.

Fans get to complain, coaches not so much. In fact it is our job as fans to ride the refs a little (nicely, nothing out of line) at home games. I watched the whole Barnes presser after the game. Disappointing. I used to be a big fan of hers, not quite so much recently.

If you want to analyze, the questions are when she touched the ball and when her right foot left the floor.
- She is in the process of stepping toward the point at which she touches the ball. Her weight is originally on the right foot (on the end line) and is transitioning to the left foot. I see her as rotating her right foot into her body's line immediately before lifting it (try doing that AFTER lifting it!).
- Gravity will cause the ball to accelerate downward. Any frame in which the downward smear is less than the previous frame means that ball was touched between the start of the previous frame to the end of the current frame. Zero or little smear would mean that the ball was touched before the start of the current frame.
While I believe the officials blew this call, if it could have been reviewed (it can't), whichever call it was would not have been overturned.

Relevant rules: "A player shall be out of bounds when they touch the floor or any object other than a person on or outside a boundary line." "The ball shall be out of bounds when it touches a player who is out of bounds" Her left foot is down, so she is not airborne.
There is a question in my mind whether they can review the player as being out-of-bounds unless they actually make the call as out-of-bounds.
In the last 2 minutes of the 4Q or overtime, they can review to "Determine which team caused the ball to be out of bounds, provided a ruling of an out-of-bounds violation was made by the officials".
I would suggest that the rules committee add a potentially missed out-of-bounds call to the cases in which a coach may appeal for a replay.

Different topic: does anyone know what a REPRIMAND from Pac-12 really means? Looks like Adia Barnes earned one for her complaints about reffing in her post-UO game press conference. Of course, no idea if anything also coming on the dust-up with Graves (and now her second time giving the finger after a game, so perhaps it is more a pattern than we thought last April).

Looks to me as if Oregon is getting "homered" in the most recent coaches poll. Defeats both Arizona and U Conn in the same weekend but still isn't getting enough votes to rise into the top 25. Close, but not there yet. And as for U Conn, it only drops one place (to #12), while Colorado, which lost 2 this weekend and has yet to beat a top 25 team, only drops 1 place (to #23). No question in my mind that Oregon should be ranked higher than Colorado, a lot higher.
Stanford's trip to Oregon schools in late Feb is going to be a real challenge. We can't overlook either the Ducks or the Beavers. Both will be tough, probably Oregon the toughest. Personally, I'll be there, cheering the Card on. Already have my tickets.

I was referring to the coaches poll, which came out today, and reflects the games on Monday. And my "homered" comment is to the fact that the coaches poll is the "coaches/USA" -- linked to espn, poll.
