This is what is making me crazy about this recruitment.  I'm not saying Stewart should be scared of the competition at Michigan, but it seems reasonable to look at who else is there at your position and candidly assess your chances of breaking through the logjam to get significant playing time.  In our class, we have Fehoko (who's going on a mission, so doesn't really count for another two years) and Paxton Segina, who is a 2-star recruit.  (Segina may prove to be another underrecruited Stanford success story, but our WR class right now is not exactly overflowing with high-ranking immediate contributors.)  Contra Michigan, with 4-star Ahmir Mitchell, 4-star Dylan Crawford, 4-star Brad Hawkins, and 3- to 4-star Nate Johnson**. 

** (Stewart actually ranks ahead of Johnson on ESPN (77 to Johnson's 72) and Rivals (the 74th-ranked WR compared to the 79th-ranked WR), but Johnson is ahead on 247 (92 to 86) and Scout (67th-ranked WR to the 102nd-ranked WR).)

Not only would Stewart leave school with a significantly more prestigious degree by coming to Stanford, Stewart would be the top-ranked WR from this class when he steps foot on campus.  He would be the 4th- or 5th-ranked WR in this class in Ann Arbor, depending on the service.  And as for quality of football, we can look at the final AP rankings for the past six years:

2015 season: #3 Stanford, #12 Michigan
2014 season: Neither team ranked
2013 season: #11 Stanford, (NR) Michigan
2012 season: #7 Stanford, #24 Michigan
2011 season: #7 Stanford, #12 Michigan
2010 season: #4 Stanford, (NR) Michigan

Sure, Michigan may have a longer tradition of football excellence, but if you're concerned about the best place to play football right now, get a degree, and prepare yourself for the NFL, there just isn't a comparison.

Now that Michigan has added yet another WR recruit, Eddie McDoom (heck of a name, by the way), I should note that McDoom is ranked higher than Stewart on Scout (68th-ranked WR to 102nd-ranked WR), 247 (88 to 86), and ESPN (82 to 77), while Stewart has the slightest edge per Rivals (74th-ranked WR to 75th-ranked WR).  So Stewart would be the 4th of 6 WRs in the Michigan class per Rivals, the 5th of 6 WRs in the class per ESPN, and the 6th of 6 WRs in the class per Scout and 247. 

On the other hand, Stewart may be optimistic about playing time there because of his height.  At 6'4", he would be the tallest WR in the class (Ahmir Mitchell is 6'3", Dylan Crawford is 6'1", Brad Hawkins is 6'1", Nate Johnson is 5'11", and McDoom is also 5'11," all heights per 247). 

As for other WR recruits moving to safety, that well may be true, but there are already two safeties in Michigan's class.  (Of course, they're middle 3-star guys and two of the 4 lowest-ranked guys currently in the class, so it's entirely possible they don't make it to signing day and some of the higher-ranked WRs get moved over to defense.)

To those of you concerned that there just might be too many wide receivers in Michigan's class, not to worry!  According to this Michigan blog, WR commit Nate Johnson's "status is up in the air."

This, of course, might be news to Johnson, who was offered in December and committed four days ago, saying "It was a gut feeling and a no brainer." (See http://247sports.com/Bolt/Nate-Johnson-commits-to-Michigan-41972166.)  That doesn't sound up in the air to me.

Edit: On further review, it appears Johnson is still taking official visits to other programs (ND last weekend and Penn State this weekend).  As one of the lower-ranked WRs in the Michigan class, I wonder if Johnson has been told to take a look around in case things don't work out on signing day....

I know ESPN is rightly regarded as one of the weakest recruiting services, but I think it's interesting to note that they have Paxton Segina ranked as a 3-star recruit (79 rating, and the 89th-ranked WR in the class), while the other services agree that he's either a very low 3-star recruit or a 2-star guy. 

In fact, he's actually ranked HIGHER than Donald Stewart on ESPN, who gets a 77 rating (still 3 stars) and is pegged as the 122nd-ranked WR in the class.  Huh.

I'm certainly not saying that Segina is the better prospect than Stewart, but I was surprised to see ESPN rank him as such when the other services agree that Stewart is a 4-star caliber prospect while Segina is a 2-star (or very low 3-star) guy.  It could be as simple as "ESPN rankings are always weird" or perhaps one of their recruitniks saw the same thing in Segina that our coaching staff did.

Each of these videos is seriously sick.  I can't even imagine a sane person agreeing to any of this.  When I went through Rush one frat showed off their paddles and bragged about their use.  I couldn't for the life of me understand why having someone smack my butt with one of those was a good idea.

I wonder how many of them are faking it.  Probably all of them... otherwise if you actually squeezed your balls you'd be doubled down on the ground in excruciating pain. 

They probably laugh at the one guy who does do a real squeeze and collapses.
