Who was the first soldier to win the Nobel Peace Prize?

It was George Marshall, founder of the Marshall Plan. Won it in 1953. I don't think Churchill won a NPP.

Correct.  However, Churchill did win a Nobel Prize for Literature.

Coincidentally, Churchill won the Nobel Prize for Literature the same year that Marshall won the Nobel Peace Prize.

RE: Sports trivia thread - Phogge - 12-25-2021

Of the four Nobel winners which individual won both awards as a solo?

What institution won three prizes?

What was George Armstrong Custer's rank in the Regular Army?

What individuals achieved five star rank in the U.S. armed forces in WWII? What European military title was not adopted by Congress for five star appointees?

Finally did Santa come to your abode last night and what kind of cookies did you lay out?

RE: Sports trivia thread - BobK - 12-25-2021

When was the first African-American promoted to Brigadier General (one-star)?

How many African Americans have been promoted to Brigadier General or higher since then?

RE: Sports trivia thread - BostonCard - 12-25-2021

I’m guessing the US never adopted the very model of a modern major general.
