Since 247 includes predictions from the start of the player's recruitment, it's important to pay attention to the trend, which has swung back to Stanford. Most people I've read seem to think it's between Stanford and USC. The fact that he wore a USC visor to a recent event isn't a very good sign. Still, all the experts had Solomon Thomas going to Arkansas based on tea leaves, when he had already made a silent commitment to Stanford. Let's hope that's the case here.

He was planning to visit Michigan but clearly will not before announcing. I think that pushes them out. This is between the Trojans and us. Supposedly, he likes the depth chart better at Stanford since we did not take a QB this past recruiting cycle. I think he's coming to Palo Alto although there's still 11 months before he can sign anything.

After having lived here for three months, I'll disagree respectfully. If you've grown up in the snow, that's one thing. I grew up in NorCal, the weather in Michigan winters is heinous. Take the temperature and subtract 15 degrees for wind chill. Yech.

I don't see that there is much disagreement. For a SoCal kid like Costello, even 22 degrees and snowing will feel awful. Add in your wind chill, and yech.
In the meantime, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom out here. Hang in there, I hear May is supposed to be real nice in Michigan.

I don't think it sounded particularly like he's leaning Stanford's way. Big fan of Brady and commented that Harbaugh will have Michigan on the upswing in 1 or 2 years. Also, he seemed particularly affected by Harbaugh's NFL head coaching experience and mentioned that he had focused on Harbaugh as a coach at the pro level. The only comment he was quoted making about Stanford was to acknowledge our academic excellence.

I felt the same way when I read that article, but I do wonder if the article was written by a reporter who is linked to Michigan, or at least a midwestern regional reporter. If so, those comments might have been simply a response to specific questions. The old, "What stands out for you at Michigan?" "What do you think about Harbaugh and the tradition of quarterbacks at UM?" etc.Â
I suppose we will find out how all this works out soon.

It sounded pretty good to me. He qualified his interest in Michigan by referring to "other factors", and then went on to describe Stanford as a "once in a lifetime opportunity".

I think you're right SCSF1. A lot of the Michigan feel could very well derive from the writer's presentation. There was quite a bit more discussion of issues related to Michigan, and they were front-loaded in the article relative to the brief acknowledgement that Stanford is also in the picture.

He studies Tom Brady who went to Michigan.
Academics are important to him and Stanford offers a "once-in-a-lifetime (sic) opportunity" in that regard.
