Is it just my eyes or is 29 for OK throwing a screwball? RHP seems to have a pitch that breaks into RH batters.
Not watching the game? In 4 ab, Troy has a double and a triple.

Bruno got only 2 outs and gave up 5 hits. Rough outing. Still waiting for him to recover last year's form.

Shame we can't distribute all these runs over the entire series. Pitching still needs to improve, especially when it comes to giving away free bases. Not sure what can be done when it comes to our offense facing good pitching.

My takeaway: Stanford gonna see a lot of LHP starters the rest of the season. That turns Montgomery around. Moore hasn’t figured them out yet.

Wonder if he was either allowed to be a starting pitcher or bring him in a middle inning relief role would be beneficial?
Or have Phogge take him out for a few beers?

Didn’t get to watch today but twitter has a lot of clips.

45-23 in terms of runs scored. 2-2 in terms of games. Baseball is a cruel game sometimes.

Still trying to figure out if that was ultimately a successful series or not.
On the plus side:
won two true road games against last year's national runner-up.
outscored OU 44-23.
out hit OU in each game: 59-32 in total.
had solid pitching performances from 3/4 starters.
On the negative side:
only split a series with a non-ranked team that's 15 -14 on the year.
got shut out for the first time this year.
pitchers collectively walked 24 batters, and had 6 HPB (3 by Uber alone)
left 39 runners on base.
It's particularly hard to know what to make of Bruno's outing today. Most of the season his trouble has been control, with over double anyone else's walks per inning pitched. However, he wasn't giving up hits, with opponent's hitting 0.150 against him going into today - second on the team. Today he didn't walk anyone; didn't even get to a three ball count on anyone, but 5 of 7 batters got a hit. Most weren't hit very hard (I didn't see the first hit - a double), but that's a lot of hits.
Was he trying too hard to throw strikes?
Of note:
Saborn Campbell had his first two hits of the season.
Tommy Troy went 9-18 for the series to move into #1 in the Pac-12 in BA at 0.413.
Braden Montgomery went 5-15 for the series to see his BA drop to 0.402, dropping from 1st to 3rd in the Pac-12.
Stanford hit 5 triples in the series - they have 11 on the year.
... and Oklahoma's uniforms are way too similar to Stanford's - some confusion watching this weekend.
Meanwhile, in conference ...
Somehow SC is atop the standings, they were picked to be 10/11 in the preseason poll. Though it does look like they may be dropping their series finale to Utah tonight (which would leave them in a three-way tie for first by traditional basebal game-behind-leader counting).
UCLA (picked for 2nd) has lost 5 in a row, including the final two vs UW, getting blown out by Fullerton, then the first two vs WSU. One game to go vs WSU due to a snow-out.

In the top of the 5th at Cal Stanford up 5-1. Mathews piching. HRs by Rios and Graham and Cobb

"Straightball, I hit very much. Curveball, bats afraid."
After giving up 5 runs in the second, kal put in some junk ballers, temporarily, at least, stalling our offense.

Dowd gave up a 2 run HR in the 8th and Pancer has given up a 3 run HR in the 9th. Now 8-7.
Cal has a runner on 2nd with no one out after an error by Graham and a SB.
Stanford gets Cal to ground into a bases loaded double play to end the game and cinch the win for the Cardinal!

Just like we drew it up. :)

So are they Samson without their long hair now? ;)
Looked like a team outing to an old school barber, and some new HR celebrations.

Started watching in the top of the seventh when we were ahead 8-1. I thought that the game was in the bag, but started to get mad that the weenies were catching up. Elated when the doubleplay ended the game.

Check out the end of the clip when Rios returns to the bench. Right, left, uppercut?

New career high for Mathews - 13 k's.

We lead Cal 6-2 now (just gave up a solo HR) B5 and I’m not breathing easy at all. Scott still on the mound with 73 pitches and counting.

T9, up 11-2 with bases still juiced and one out.
I’m breathing easier now. :)

The good news is that we scored 18 runs and had a 16 run lead heading into the bottom of the ninth. The bad news is that we gave up 6 and it ended 18-8.

I’m glad I had another obligation and turned it off T9. ;)
Wouldn’t have been good for the old blood pressure…
