Some surprising results elsewhere last night. Oklahoma sends Baylor to 0-2 in the Big 12 with an upset win. The Baranczyk Era at Oklahoma is off to a good start. Kansas went and upset Texas, and all of the sudden two traditional powers in the Big 12, Texas and Baylor have started conference play 1-4.
The Big East got in on the fun as Marquette sprung a mild upset of DePaul.

Cal has had to cancel their games this week. Asu has canceled their game tonight. This down yo one Pac 11 of the three scheduled tonight

I watched part of Q4 & OT of the Kansas@Texas WBB game. 2nd conference loss in a row to unranked teams for Texas. Each team had 23 turnovers. Good shooting for both teams (or, lots of unguarded shots). Kansas 49 FG%, 36 3PT%. Texas 41 FG% 38 3PT%
(Kansas had 3 players with >90% FT% for the season)
Compared to the Stanford game, in this game Moore started and Ebo came in off the bench. (Only 1 player that wasn't in the game, played only 3 minutes against Stanford)
I was left wondering why Stanford lost to Texas.
Texas coach blamed the loss on turnovers.
(Texas had a conference game scheduled between the two losses, but Baylor couldn't play. Texas played UTRGV instead and crushed them.)
Attendance was 2379 officially. The crowd seemed very sparse.

All three of our losses were winnable games; we just didn't execute and keep our unforced errors to a minimum when we needed to, whether it was the third quarter letdown in the South Carolina game, the 24 offensive rebounds we gave up or the 4/12 FT percentage in the South Florida contest or the 20 turnovers against Texas, we had good shots to come away with the victory in all three.
If we play well, we are capable of beating any team. We just didn't play well enough in those three defeats.

Poor Cal. Had to cancel tonight and next game. They are having trouble catching a break.

Arizona over Beavers 55 - 53. Pellington jumper with .5 sec left. Corosdale bright spot for OSU, career high 19 points. Played really well at both ends. Ware back for Az; Jones out for beavs, minor injury

And Oregon State will always be very tough at home. I note that they were unable to come to Maples to play us but we are still scheduled to play them in Corvallis. And I also note that they had a crowd on hand yesterday.

All of Oregon State's guards are either freshman or mid-major transfers -- either not quite ready or not Pac-12 caliber. They struggled with the experience and athleticism of Yeaney, Pellington, and Thomas. They defended Arizona well enough to compete.
I don't see Stanford having any problems with Oregon State, though Arizona's defense could cause some problems if Stanford does not take care of the ball.
I could very well see Stanford and Oregon finishing 1-2 in the conference.

I thought the surprise last night was how well OSU played for a team that hadn't played in 25 days and was missing their star player Taylor Jones. While Kennedy Brown struggled with fouls, her backup did quite well (though at 6'9" she did not have to leave the ground for rebounds), and Von Oelhoffen is already a star in the making.

I also watched Arizona squeak by Oregon State last night. They did it by employing a smothering defense in the last three minutes. I think they are using their last game against us (the National Championship Game) as a motivator to raise their intensity! The up-close-and-personal defense worked for them against OS. Tara and company had better be ready for it when they play here. It reminded me of the Texas defense.

A week ago I said Arizona didn’t look that good and Oregon would be our biggest challenger in conference. Wow was I wrong. Arizona looks VERY legit today. Up 11 at half in Eugene. There defense is stellar and Oregon has been out of sync all game. Arizona is gonna be tough. Glad we get them at home.

Well, that was exciting, almost went to double overtime but Oregon pulls it out. I watched on a terrible feed of Pac 12 networks on my computer that for some reason had no audio and had the bottom half of the screen breaking up. But I saw enough.

Yes exciting - but hard to watch as I had sound but the video was AWFUL probably from 4th quarter on....guessing weather or the tsunami hitting somewhere between OR and CA?

I didn't see the game, but I'm not surprised. Oregon is a better team with healthy players than Arizona, I think.
