Re: Class of 2016 - TrumpCard - 01-18-2016

I wouldn't be excited to see Stanford have to play against Chacho Ulloa every year, but I would be happy to see him land on his feet.  This tweet suggests Oregon is a possible destination.  Although I think of Oregon as having 50 elite DBs, that's actually not the case.  Oregon has only 2 DB commits this year (1 who is a 4-star recruit) and had only 3 DB commits last year (with only 1 who was a 4-star recruit).  So Ulloa might be a welcome addition there.

Re: Class of 2016 - OutsiderFan - 01-18-2016

Has Ulloa officially been denied admission?  I thought I read earlier that he de-committed as a hedge against being denied, and that no final decision was made, kind of like in the Herbig case.

Any idea of where the coaches are going for in-home visits?  Just spied in Terminal 2 at SFO, none other than David Shaw.

Re: Class of 2016 - BostonCard - 01-18-2016

Costello had a nice bump in his ranking after the Army AA game.

https://n.rivals.com/news/rivals100-risers-and-sliders-14

“One of the concerns with Costello through his senior season was whether he could put touch on his passes and not zip every ball by receivers. There's no question he has a strong arm and the Stanford commit proved at the Army game, even with an injured hand, that he can deliver the ball on time, with pace or with some touch, and get it to receivers all over the field.” – Adam Gorney, Rivals.com National Recruiting Analyst

#54 would put him just outside the 5* range.

Slightly OT, I note that the coaches on the team that finished one position ahead of us in the rankings have their own recruiting plane.

Re: Class of 2016 - StanfordMatt - 01-18-2016

Most programs at that level have a private plane for recruiting. Heck, Alabama even has a helicopter in addition to a plane so that Saban can land directly on high school campuses without having to waste time at airports.

We're losing the air war!  Help!  Surely someone can endow a Toby Gerhardt Director of Air Supremacy.  Slackers!

Did Bisharat hear bad news from Admissions?  At any rate, he is no longer committed to Stanford.

Don't you mean John Elway Director of Air Supremacy?!  (Andrew Luck is already taken for Offensive Coordinator so I went with Elway for the Air Squadron.)

Why did they let him attend the big weekend if he wasn't going to be admitted?

That's too bad - I was just wondering about his status this morning.  Onward....

Of course.  I stand corrected.  In the corner.

Re: Class of 2016 - BobK - 01-18-2016

Never say never DC like Herbig, but scholies are going fast and if not admitted yet you don't want to be left out at choice # 2.

Re: Class of 2016 - DC - 01-18-2016

Hope you are right, Bob.  Beau committed quite some time ago, so under your suggestion, it is surprising he hasn't heard word yet, if he did.

Re: Class of 2016 - CrazedZooChimp - 01-18-2016

Well, this is curious (saw posted over on rivals):

Long seems like a good kid and a talented athlete.  I think it's admirable that he's persevering to achieve his goal, and if he comes up short, well, all of us have done just that at some point, and I'm sure he'll do just fine at UM or UW or wherever.

To the extent people read this as implying that Long wants to go to Stanford if he can get accepted, please don't be presumptuous and snobby.  ;)

Re: Class of 2016 - SUBuddha - 01-18-2016

It appears the decommits are getting some heat. Williams response to long if he recommits.

Ok, I won't be presumptuous and will merely rely on what Long tweeted.  ;)
