Yeah, I think Walsh underestimated the brobdingnagian amount of time, effort, and energy you have to put into being a D-1 head coach and found he just didn't have the stomach for it any more. As you say, he had nothing left to prove. The straw that broke the camel's back was the two back to back losing seasons.

Speaking of Walsh, I believe he once made the comment that a quality cornerback with the grades to get into Stanford comes along about once every ten years. Looks like that may have changed.

The only commit from 13, 14, or 15 from Virginia so far is Ryan Burns and IIRC he was recruited by Pep originally.Â Virginia recruiting is my only concern about Pep's departure.

Corner has become a more glamorous position.Â My understanding is that it's the 4th highest paid position in the NFL nowadays.Â So maybe the pool has become larger ie more kids that would have played RB or WR, now play CB also or bypass the touchdown glory positions altogether.

Here's an article on Town vs Rosen. It says Rosen is the more athletic of the two, which is interesting because I thought the reason Shaw offered Town and not Rosen was because of athleticism.

On more than one occasion when the subject of Rosen has been brought up Rivals' Drukarev has cryptically mentioned "other factors." He said it has nothing to do with other quarterbacks. He did, however, say that we're still in touch with Rosen, and will have some coaches at his games this fall.

BTW Rosen's stats in the first two games are 29-38 for 551 yards and 6 TD's. Not bad. He also ran for 59 yards in 4 carries in his most recent game. ND has offered. I'm starting to warm up to the idea that we should, too.

However, if you want impressive stats, how about Kal commit Tre Watson. In two games he has rushed for 784 yards (465 in his most recent).

I'm OK with trusting the coaches (do I have a choice), but I would be curious to know why they haven't offered and what they saw in Town that they haven't in Rosen.

Week 3 not the same as Week 2 for these recruits.Â Josh Rosen left the game on Friday with his right arm in a sling.Â Ricky Town hyperextended his knee and will be out a few weeks.Â Tre Watson was held to 48 yards on 23 carries.

Interesting that Rosen's backup came off the bench to complete 10 for 11 and two touchdowns and lead St John Bosco to a come from behind victory. That is one deep team.
