RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - Giants - 01-31-2022

Who are the only two people ever awarded both a World Series ring and a Super Bowl ring?

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - Phogge - 01-31-2022

Deion won a couple of SB’s and played in the Series but I can’t remember if he was on the one Brave team that won a Series.

Somebody in an ownership group?

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - BobK - 01-31-2022

Neither Deion or anyone in an ownership group.

Jimmy Garoppolo.  Just kidding.  Garoppolo has a better chance at a World Series ring than a Super Bowl ring.

Depends on who he is playing for in the future…

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - Phogge - 01-31-2022

Bobbbb, Kezar was limited because of HS games almost every day. 130’s, JV and varsity for AAA teams. Plus SI was a block from the USF campus and at that time was not a separate entity from USF. The split came in 1959. The only building left from the SI campus is the gym. Everything else was torn down to pave the way for the Koret Center.

Robert Norton was a three sport guy at SI and the brother of a classmate who also played hoops.

no message….

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - Phogge - 01-31-2022

SuperBowl and WS rings... Dick Enberg and Jack Buck.

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - BobK - 01-31-2022

Why in the world would they have rings.

Teams are pretty liberal about giving out rings, pretty much everyone who works full time for the organization gets one, although not everyone gets the really expensive ones. The NFL pays for 150 Super Bowl rings for the winning team, and sometimes teams end up giving out even more than that and paying the difference. I doubt that every team gives out rings to their announcers but I'm sure some have.

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - Phogge - 01-31-2022

Mike Zagaris, 49er team photographer, has a bunch of them.

Better than your guess Bobbbbbbbbbb, which was no guess. LOL.

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - BobK - 01-31-2022

Those who work for winning teams should get rings. But announcers I don’t get it
What guess Phogge?

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - Phogge - 01-31-2022

Made a guess, Enberg ,etc. you haven’t made a guess. So guess.

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - BobK - 01-31-2022

Heck Phogge I trust in you I thought you answered it. There’s a camera man
I know and if he has one I’m thrilled
So I’ll guess that camera man has one

Pretty sure the Giants' announcers - Miller, Flemming, Kruk, and Kuip - all got WS rings.
If the team votes for it, then I'm all for it.  Very cool for all of those guys (and anyone else gifted a ring).

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - Phogge - 01-31-2022

So what’s the answer DC?

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - BobK - 01-31-2022

Great point T. I’d certainly think a team
announcer should get rings.

There's no vote, the owner decides.

In the Eddie D era secretaries, P.R. staff, equipment guys, basically everyone got a ring I believe. Great for morale.

Don't know, but seems like it probably is announcers like you said. Jack Buck definitely got a ring when the Cardinals won the WS, Joe Buck has talked about it, although I don't know where he would have won a Super Bowl ring. The great Bill King perhaps, Athletics and Raiders were both champions during his tenures.

DC got one…

Bill King

The second: The incomparable Bob Sheppard with the Yankees and NY Giants.

As Carl Yastrzemski once said, “You’re not in the big leagues until Bob Sheppard announces your name”.
