Incoming freshman jersey numbers? - ThePassionOfTheChryst - 04-29-2015

I haven't been able to find a list anywhere.  Andy Drukarev re-tweeted a few of the guys announcing theirs (Love #20, Toohill #44, Meeks #24) but I'm hoping it's consolidated somewhere.  Thanks.

The following numbers will not be used: 1, 7, (12), 16.

Re: Incoming freshman jersey numbers? - ThePassionOfTheChryst - 07-28-2015

I apologize for bumping this old thread but I did some digging yesterday (going to each player's Twitter) and this is what I was able to find, in case anyone else is a nerd like me who cares:

Williams #15
B Scarlett #17 (not a freshman obviously but an incoming player)
Arcega-Whiteside #19
Love #20
Meeks #24
Branch #31
Toohill #44
Wilson #54
Chaffin #65
Dreyer #77
Jackson #97

Couldn't find anything for Annan, Bailey, Buncom, Edwards, Fox, Irwin, Maihen, J Reid, C Scarlett, or Tyler.

Re: Freshmen Jersey Numbers - Hank 91 - 08-05-2015

They gave us a flash drive with media guides from all twelve teams. It's convenient and takes up less room on the shelf, but I miss the old ones, obviously.

Re: Freshmen Jersey Numbers - needle - 08-05-2015

I'm going out on a limb to say Sid Krishnamurthi is brother of former Stanford WR Gautam Krishnamurthi, whose last season was last year. Gautam's bio lists a brother named Sidhart.

Re: Freshmen Jersey Numbers - BobK - 08-05-2015

Not much of a limb they are brothers

Re: Freshmen Jersey Numbers - PalmTree - 08-05-2015

I read something last year about this. Apparently he's walking on because his brother had such a great experience as a four-year walk on.

Nah.  A very common name, somewhere.  Sort of like Ferrari.

I really enjoy reading about members of Stanford teams. He may never grace the cover of magazines, but I love to see the talent, dedication, commitment, wisdom, inquisitiveness, ...

There hasn't been a paper media guide since 2010. The athletic department prepares a few hard copy media guides for internal use by printing out the electronic version and binding it, but otherwise, it's all electronic.

I find it very refreshing to see Indian-sounding names on the football team; hasn't happened very often, has it, besides these brothers? I remember Sahill Bloom on the baseball team recently, but not football. Love the diversity.

We did have safety Drew Madhu who was recruited in 2012, who I believe was of South Asian descent.  Unfortunately he was injured and had to retire from football.

Good point, and unfortunate that he had to retire. Thanks for the reminder.

My favorite Big Game with Tuan Van Le.  1988, last play of the game, makes massive block to preserve tie.  I had such terrible seats, it happened right in front of me.  Bliss.

Re: Incoming freshman jersey numbers? - teejers1 - 08-11-2015

Mick:

Cal totally outplayed Stanford and deserved to win that game.  And frankly, if Stanford didn't possess he Axe, then I would have been fine with the Cal player making the FG.  But as it was, blocked FG; Stanford keeps the Axe (a tie rarely felt so much like a stolen W); and the frustration in Berkeley was extended.

Re: Incoming freshman jersey numbers? - Mick - 08-11-2015

That's exactly why I liked it so much.  If Stanford had been outplaying c.a.l, it would have been a terrible BG, but it partially made up for the Screw of 82.
