#9 to play at Oregon on Saturday -
Farm93 - 09-26-2010
Not soccer or X-country or water polo.
AP #9 Stanford football will go to Oregon on Saturday. College Gameday will be there too so one of the program\'s early believers, Herbstreit, probably will be calling the game.
For those that refuse to watch other games, this is not an unreasonable ranking. The team might still get crushed on Saturday because Oregon is at home, but it is still nice to get some top ten love.
Got to believe Stanford will get Oregon\'s "A" game, so it will also be great to see how Stanford stacks up.

I think the football team will probably beat Oregon. Yes, the Oregon offense is explosive, but they punted 11 times against ASU. We just played a spread team away and the defense should be ready. On the other hand, I don\'t think oregon can stop our power run game. In conclusion, I would not be the least bit surprised if the football team beats Oregon.

Neither Oregon nor Stanford has played a team that I think will wind up in the top 25 at the end of the year.
I think that will definitly change this weekend...

Sorry friend\'s birthday, the biggest game since I\'ve been a Stanford fan will have to take precedence. People are talking about Stanford as a national title contender, yeah it\'s early, but when was the last time that was the case? The 70s? 40s?

So your conclusive evidence that Stanford will win, is Stanford\'s played a 1-3 spread team (ND), so Stanford will be ready for Oregon? Wow. Oregon is so much faster than anyone Stanford\'s played so far. Plus it\'s not the same spread offense.
As far as a power running game, Oregon can hang, it\'s not easy for oregon, but they made the early adjustments against UT\'s power running, and shut them out the rest of the game.
Stanford\'s best chance to beat Oregon is in the passing game. Luck will have plenty of opportunities to make plays, especially over the middle. If ASU\'s line contained Oregon\'s blitzes a little better, ASU could have pulled out the win. If Luck catches Oregon in a blitz and checks down to the guy going over the middle, it\'ll gash Oregon\'s D all night long.
Easier said than done, but that\'s Oregon\'s weakness, not against the power running game.
Of course they can just fake injuries like ASU and UT did to try and slow the Offense. It doesn\'t work, but they can try! :)
It\'s going to be a good game, no doubt!
Go Ducks!

Oh yay! Â A first time Oregon poster!
LMJwannabe did you forget your password from last year? Â Or was it perhaps something like Masoli4Heisman? Â I guess, I would come in with a new ID too.
Re: #9 to play at Oregon on Saturday - bigbadduck - 09-26-2010
Witty come back. I thought Stanford fans were smarter than that. I guess when you can\'t come back with facts to back your claims up, you stoop to this level.
Disappointing, I was hoping for a better conversation. Alas, we\'ve arrived here.
BTW, regardless of what you think/say/accuse, I\'m a first time poster on here.
Cheers! :)

I\'ll let the team do my talking next Saturday.

I don\'t see where I ever claimed to be superior. I only claimed to be hoping for better conversation than the empty accusations that Farm93 left.
If you\'re open to talking football, let\'s go. I\'m just past name calling.
Cheers!

Never said my team was better, only that it would be a good game. The 6.5 point spread seems about right. ;)
Cheers!

Quack, quack, quack. Caught in the act with your Masoli4Heisman user ID. Â And I\'m surprised you even have a computer to post to this board. It must not be a laptop. ;)
Don\'t get too cocky, Notre Dame has "better athletes" than Oregon. And your D-line goes something like 230, 250, 250, 240. And, maybe you can remind me...who won this game last year?

Not going to bother with you Red Army. Talking smack with nothing to back it. I will say that living on last years accomplishments is dangerous. You guys don\'t have Gearhart back there this year. You haven\'t really played anyone yet. Same can be said for Oregon.
Why is it that although I didn\'t start on this forum talking trash, you go directly to it yourselves? Claiming I\'m some other screen ID when I\'m not. Check the history, and you\'ll see I\'m not. It\'s obvious you can\'t talk about football, only trash talk.
BTW, ND having better athletes is irrelevant if they\'re not coached up. ND\'s 1-3, so it shows what those "athletes" are worth. ASU is a better team than ND. Beating ND seems great at first, until you realize they weren\'t what they seemed to be.
When you want to stop being an ass and start talking football, let me know. Â

Re: #9 to play at Oregon on Saturday - bigbadduck - 09-26-2010
Show me where in this thread I trash talked before Farm 93 and Red Army started in, and accused me of being someone I\'m not? I simply called out someone on their simplistic view of why Stanford will win the game. If that hurts your feelings, so be it.

I\'m just glad that Masoli hasn\'t stolen your laptop yet and that you\'re able to participate in this forum.

I always start the week sort of liking the Ducks but end really, really hating them ... or at least their fans. Â /Lefty

Hey, LMJ, I\'m happy to talk football with you!
What were the questions fans had about your team going into the year? And how have they been answered thus far?
Here, I think the biggest worries pre-season were how would the offense look without Toby and our defensive secondary.
Speaking for myself, I think the run game has looked very good but not necessarily capable of ripping off big chunks of yardage on a consistent basis.
The passing game has that quick strike capability, to be sure. We\'ve been spoiled to think that every throw is going to be a laser from Luck, but he\'s definitely human enough to throw a few errant balls each game. His touch, mobility and smarts are what makes him greath, however. So far, I think our O-line has done a very good job protecting him as well.
As for our defense, I think it\'s outperformed almost every fan\'s expectations, with vastly improved play by our back four/five. Our front seven can definitely bring the heat on opposing quarterbacks, and our run defense is stout if not stifling.
Re: #9 to play at Oregon on Saturday -

Gotta back up LMJ4H on this one. red army puts out some jr high "my dogs smarter than your dog" nonsense about ND athletes being better than Oregon\'s and then throws out some nonsense numbers about the Ducks D-line, and Yvonne, you get miffed about LMJ4H calling bs on him?
Pretty weak.
And Farm93 I\'ll save you the time: I\'m a Stanford grad; football; and an Oregon grad degree. Redrum has my registration information and he can match it with the alumni association listings. So why don\'t you pass on the wanky red herrings and engage the visitor instead of making up nonsense?
Re: #9 to play at Oregon on Saturday -
Farm93 - 09-26-2010
Last year the board became full of Oregon smack talkers. Â If LMJ is for real, then he must know that his fellow Oregon fans have a very rich history of coming to various boards the week before the game with a goal of talking smack.
Hard to believe that LMJ would not understand that his fellow Oregon fans have blazed a pretty unfriendly trail.
Based on the amazing volume of e-mail in an effort to defend himself, my guess remains that LMJ was very prepared for a full week of smack as either LMJ or any other number of new UO names.
ASU is a better team than ND? Â We might save some time and let NDNation types battle it out with our visitor.
Is ND really beneath ASU these days?
