The roster is out. Two not back are Jacob Palisch is now in Grad School and playing baseball at Texas A&M
Austin Weiermiller seems to be an Investment banker
However Alex Williams is back as is Vincent Martinez
Grad transfer Joe Lomusico is an OFer from Brown who started every game there and in their last real season hit 339 in 2019

Vincent Martinez' return is a reason for celebration. I don't know why he wasn't given an opportunity to play late in the season but he clearly demonstrated he could hit for most of the season. Having him back (and assuming he is our starting DH, which he should be) means that, in effect, we really have six returners from our starting line-up last year. The big question mark for this team will obviously be pitching beyond Alex Williams.

While Troy may play 2B this season I thought he was a very good DH

Thanks for the info, BobK. Looking forward to seeing what the team can do at the Round Rock Classic.

He was, but with Martinez back, I don't see how you don't start Martinez. And that means moving Troy to second.

Somewhat OT, but my son relayed that Coach Esquer's kid is going to play for Arizona. That surprised me a little, unless father/son didn't want to work/play in same program or the kid didn't take the requisite AP classes. Regardless, younger Esquer is (obviously) quite a good player.

A while ago young Esquer said he wouldn’t be playing at Stanford. He’s very good but some do a Fleetwood Mac.

Anyone have information on which frosh we might expect to contribute?
Among the sophs who didn't contribute much last year, I understand Ryan Bruno might be the one with the most expectations. Yes?
RE: Stanford Baseball -

Ryan Bruno pitched well although in relief this summer for the Lincoln Potters, 7,2 ininnings one run 15Ks
Montgomery is by far our highest rated frosh.
Trevor Haskins hit 302 with 4 HRs in 120 ABs for Lincoln
P/INF Jake Sapien hit 338 at Lincoln

Nothing wrong with a coaches son wanting to go and make his own way. I am sure it has nothing to do with the type of student he was or if he wanted to play in the same program. Getting into Stanford is not a done deal, so maybe he felt that he had a better shot of getting into other schools. Tim Esmay's son was the starting shortstop when he was head coach at ASU, son was OK but it ends up being like Coaches Kid in little league. Kevin Higgin's is an assistant at UNLV, and his son went to play at ASU. Notre Dame's HC's son was a part of that Covid WS team at NC State. It is not uncommon for kids to play elsewhere.
That will be an interesting family rivalry, with his son at U of A. I heard Esquer's younger brother had some time in the ASU baseball program.

A response for Teejers. Years ago he saw defensive players blowing by our OTs and came up with the song Blue Bayou
Yes on Go your own way

Thought it was hoops.
And the phrase was "he got Ronstadted" or "he Ronstadted that defender."
Brevin Ronstadted everybody.

The bootleg on line started in 1998. Brevin graduated in 1997

What is your point?
The Brevin Ronstadted everybody is just a factual observation today (not a quoted saying from back when I first used that phrase).

Just trying to give you credit for a great saying. My bad

So I get the Fleetwood Mac reference for Esquer's son, But...
"Brevin Ronstadt'd the defender," meaning he left them feeling sorry for themselves in the Blue Bayou? How did I miss this one from one of our many poet laureates?

Blue Bayou is an old Roy Orbison song. I first heard Blue Bayou as "blew by you" from Tim McCarver. it had to be about the same time #34 "Toast" Patterson was lining up at CB for the Giants.
teejers is right on Brevin who just had other worldly quicks
