Wow! That takes me back! Before I was accepted to Stanford, I was aware of the tennis teams\' success, and the success of Debi Thomas, but the NCAA men\'s gymnastics championship was the first event I watched (on TV), after being admitted.

Big margin for error based on the prelims, but the first few rotations have not gone that well.
Oklahoma had a bad rotation on the Horizontal bar yesterday. Â If they clean that up and Stanford continues to underperform....
Already C.a.l is the only other team with a chance.

Right now, Stanford\'s hammering the floor exercise. And of the three teams to compete in each apparatus that Stanford has scored in, Stanford has won all three by a margin of at least .8 as a team.
But it\'ll come down to the vault, Stanford\'s final apparatus, I think.
VG
EDIT: and as I posted that, Illinois edged them in the parallel bars, 60-59.950.

Uh, huh! Â They rocked it! Â Much higher team score on the Floor than last night. Â Any improvement is great news because last night\'s score was more than enough. Â Better yet, Oklahoma was as bad on the H bar as yesterday.
The margin of error is reasonably decent at this point. Â 3 rotations to go! Â The vault is a rotation free of big deduction possibilities, so I am thrilled that is their last rotation.

Crap. Hope we didn\'t offend the woofing gods, cuz they just blew up on the pommel horse. 56.5, after a 58.7 yesterday.
Eep.
VG
EDIT: And Oklahoma just killed the floor, a 62.9 to Stanford\'s 62.45. Â Hoping they fall off a bit on the pommel horse as well.

Looks like we are up over Oklahoma 363.450 to 361.600 with each team having one more athlete on one event to go.
That is, if I am reading things right ...

UPDATE
Stanford 363.450

YES! :)
A national championship is impressive in its own right for the men\'s gymnastics team, but well done for being the milestone victors in Stanford history!
