Alumni Tailgate -
Hank 91 - 12-14-2015
Registration was supposed to open today. It wasn't open yet at lunch time, and just now when I click the Register Now button, I'm redirected to a page telling me the site is closed. I can't imagine it sold out that quickly, so perhaps they're just having technical difficulties. Has anyone else had any luck?

I had same problem, and was emailing a friend who actually made it to Step 4 before getting "timed out" (I only made it to Step 2 in about 50 tries).
Really, really, really frustrating.
I'm hoping it's just a technical screw up that will be addressed at some point this evening.

I was told by phone at ~ 2:30 pm that it was supposed to go live sometime between noon and 5 pm. At 5:10 pm I first saw the Register Now button. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to log on, I finally got to the Welcome Screen [the first of seven listed steps]. After ~ 15 minutes at the welcome screen, I got the same "site closed" message. So...about 45 minutes trying to access and no luck.

So, teejers, it was YOUR fault I couldn't get past Step 1... ;D

It's a shame there's no one on campus with any computer or internet expertise.

We'll see how far I get. Just hit next on step 2...
Looks like the site was contracted out to showreg.net. I wonder if they've heard of node.js.

Has anyone gotten far enough to see a price?

Should I buy 10 and distribute here? :D

Is the alumni tailgate worth it? This is my first Rose Bowl...I've been to several UCLA games before and generally like to do my own tailgating there, but not sure how simple that is to do for the Rose Bowl, Bowl.

Don't know the ticket price, but right now, registration may cost me my dinner...

It's...marginally worth it. It's a central location where usually everyone is, and you'll bump into friends across all class years while eating nothing-special food/drinks. There are some fun carnival type things for the kids and a big stage where a small pep rally usually occurs with the band before the game. That's all I remember of the tailgate. Also, they ran out of food in 2013, and I will never forgive them for that. I'm not sure I ever got my money back.

What is this, a Canadian website?? There's a French translation of the timeout error message right under the English text...

I like doing the alumni tailgate because it's easy -- the food, drinks, and dessert are all there. Plus, there's the added bonus of running into people. They typically have a large area with sections for classes from the 70s, 80s, 90s, etc. Two years ago we had a group of about eight, but we wound up running into at least ten other people from our class, which was fun. I thought the food was good -- there were even good gluten free options for my wife -- and there was a great selection of drinks, alcoholic and non.

That's pretty much about par for the course, isn't it...
Perennial issue with all things SAA.

They outsourced to showreg.net, which is a full service event production company. They'll also be handling the paper tickets, barcode infrastructure, etc.
I keep getting directed to a "demo.asp" part of the event, which doesn't sound promising.

This is not good news. There were so many problems with the last Rose Bowl tailgate that the Alumni Assoc offered everyone a refund. Given the extremely talented crew at the Alumni Assoc (and they really are an excellent group), I am very surprised.Â

Getting a "registration not available" myself.

Yup, they shut down the site.

Well, I got to Step 1, but when I click on the Next button, it isn't taking me to Step 2. I'm suspicious of any organization that doesn't understand Step 2 should come after Step 1.
