Bama is destroying A&M.

Should we be rooting for blowouts?

Root for whatever you feel like. Half a season left.

Florida-LSU doesn't affect Stanford, as neither is likely to drop below where Stanford has room to rise. You have to root against the teams closest to Stanford. Otherwise, it's probably just a shifting of positions.

Yeah. If Stanford wins a lot, the polls will work themselves out. If Stanford doesn't win a lot, we won't care.

Amazing 93 yard pick six by Alabama.

Well, we can root against LSU in hopes of C-Mac's Voldemort prospects. ;D

Michigan lost on a punter fumble-recovery and return for a TD by MSU.

So four teams ranked ahead of Stanford lost (#8 UF, #9 TAMU, #12 Mich, #13 Miss). Three of them (UF, TAMU, Mich) lost to teams who were also ahead of Stanford, and two of them lost nail biters. This doesn't leave Stanford much room to rise. Ole Miss's loss @ Memphis was to an unranked team, but Memphis will be ranked by this afternoon. Still, they should fall below Stanford. Stanford should also jump #14 No
tre Dame, who struggled at home versus unranked U
SC. #12 Michigan obviously lost a heartbreaker to #7 MSU, so I doubt they fall much -- if at all. Remember, C
al stayed put after losing to Utah. I'll put our guys at #11.

I certainly hope we jump ND, but I'm not holding my breath. The Irish have their mysterious hold on the imagination of the national media, and they finished the game strong, a la Utah. I think we are either one spot ahead or one spot behind the Domers in the new rankings.
I expect people will now start to say that UCLA was overrated earlier and we benefitted from all of their injuries on defense, thus downgrading in the mind of some voters the quality of our dominant win.

I'm still holding that any undefeated team ahead of us in the rankings has to lose. Let the bodies hit the floor!

The American conference is certainly making an impact with three undefeated teams in the rankings.

Of the six(!) Pac-12 teams ranked in the preseason, Stanford is the only one still in the rankings.

Utah and Stanford top 10, Cal the only other ranked team. Just like we all expected pre-season.

Last year after 7 weeks there were 5 undefeated teams in the top 10. This year there are 8. And there are a lot more undefeated teams in the 10-25 slots this year than last. Could be a much tougher year for a one loss team to get in. There is still a lot of football left to play, and a bunch of top undefeateds still need to play each other, but likely need some upsets to help one loss teams to get in.
